Let's get to it.
Principle #1 - Treat it like a business.
It doesn't matter how you choose to make money online, you need to treat your venture
like a business.
A business only serves one real function to profit from offering solutions.
That is so important...
Let me repeat that
A business only serves one real function to profit from offering solutions.
Why is that so important, especially online?
Because people are trying so hard to find ways to make money without offering any real value.
When you look to start businesses that offer solutions, and not trying to find work from home schemes (ie filling out surveys, stuffing envelopes, etc.), life becomes so much easier.
Do you know how many surveys you would have to fill out to make $100,000?
Let's just say a whole lot.
As the business owner you serve primarily one main function to spend your time in the things that make the business the most profits.
Most people trying to make money online are looking for free ways to make money. I want you to think about this. If you added all the time you've spent looking for free, trying to make free ideas work, and divide by the actual amount of money you've made, I bet you would be better off working at McDonald's.
The next 3 principles look at the fundamental problems with most people trying to start home businesses, they don't know who to sell, what to sell, or how to sell it.
But, before we go on you must realize that in order to make money something must be sold. Not selling in the traditional sense, but something much easier which you'll see below.
Principle #2 - Find a Starving Market
What is a starving market?
A starving market is a group of people that have an almost irrational need for your product or
service.
When I was first getting started, I was almost desperate to quit my job. I hated having to be there from 8 am until.
I hated that they didn't appreciate anything that I did.
The money was ok, but I just had to work to hard to get. The worst part was that my time wasn't my own.
So, I bought and tried what felt like everything on the market.
I was in the business opp starving market. I am a marketing junkie, so I still buy everything I can get my hands.
Golfers, outlet shoppers, parents, college students, etc. They all generally fall into a starving market crowd.
But, you don't want just any starving market.
You want people that are currently spending money, and they are easy to locate and communicate with.
Outlet shoppers are a great market for retail, but trying to locate a big group of them at one time is really difficult.
Personally, I want to stick with people looking to make money.
Why?
Because when you help people make extra money, they'll like you and buy other stuff if you treat them right.
Principle #3 - Ask them what they want.
We all have wants. Every single one of us. In the information age, we know longer have to use traditionally sales tactics because people are grouping together, and saying what they want.
You have to give them an incentive of why they should tell you.
Principle #4- You have to become the only viable solution in the market place.
Any challenge in the market place you want to offer a solution. Any change or new trend you want to be on top of it, and be seen as the expert.
You want to be seen as the one-stop-solution.
Let me give you an example:
Let's say your market was dog owners. You woul ask them what they wanted.
They would probably say something like information on how to train their dogs, how to intrepret their dog's mood, etc.
They would probably want to have dog collars, dog medication, dog clothes, dog bowls, dog treats, etc.
And if you really wanted to stand out, you could have dog events, like dog competitions, who has the cutest dog, and build a dog owner community online.
I don't know exactly what the market wants because if I did I would have a presence. But, I know that dog owners are a starving market.
I guarantee you this, if you did that...You would be the only viable option. Why would they go to anybody else, when you do it all?
Principle #5- Give them what they want, how they want it.
That's it. Don't get cute trying to add extra features. Most people don't want extra. They want simple, easy, dummie proof things to make life wonderful.
Why add extra complication?
Imagine how you feel when you go to a car dealership. You tell the sales person, "All I want is a reliable car, great warranty, and great gas mileage."
He looks at you and says, "I think I have just want you want."
And he takes you a descent looking car. It has the latest xm radio, blue tooth technology, 10 disc cd changer, but it only get's 20 miles a gallon. He then says the warrant is only for a year because of all the extra things on it.
How would you feel about him?
Don't let your clients the chance to think of you like that.
Part II. Step By Step Instructions You Can Set-up Tonight
Step 1. Brainstorm 5 Topics that you are interested in that are popular.
If you need some help, you can go to amazon.com, if there is a category of books for you topic then you should be good to start with.
Step 2. Check for popularity.
You don't want to start a business around an idea that you don't know people are searching for now.
How do you check for popularity?
You can go to http://www.freekeywords.wordtracker.com/, http://www.digitalpoints.com/ (click on keyword suggestion tool, or you can use http://www.goodkeywords.com/ Google also has an external adwords keyword tool that you search on Google for that is great.
You put in each of your topics, and check on the number of search results for each.
I personally want to go into a market that has at least a few thousand searches a month. But, that is a personal choice.
Step 3. Once you have chosen a topic you need to research it. This is where the work comes in. You need read articles on your topic, subscribe newsletters, subscribe to forums, etc.
Step 4. Contact Newsletter Publishers to try and survey their lists. Some will some won't.
Step 5. Give them what they want. Find an affiliate product already being offered. You can start at clickbank.com, or cj.com (commission junction is an affiliate service). Pre-sell it with a blog or website, and that is it.
Keep in mind, this is just one way to make money online.
I appreciate you staying with me this far.
Now, I have gone through all of this hoping that I could prove to you that I know what I am talking about.
But, I also realize talk is cheap. Money talks. Everything else walks.
